Lucy the cat’s first week home

Saturday

“Let’s bring her downstairs so she can eat breakfast in the kitchen.  I think it is good for her to get to know the house,” my husband, Marc, said.

“Okay.  Should I carry her down?”

“I’d rather she came on her own.”

“I know,” I answered as I picked up one of her toys, a stick with a dangling ball and feather, “I will use this to get her to come down.”

Sunday

“Lucy, come on Lucy!” I cheered.  But Lucy didn’t come.  I grabbed the stick toy and once again guided her where I wanted her.

“I don’t know if that is such a good idea,” Marc stated.

“Why?”

“She needs to learn her way around the house without the toy.  Besides, what will happen if we lose the toy?”

I rolled my eyes.  “How are we going to lose the toy?”

Monday

“Hey! Lucy!  Come here sweet girl!” I cheered as I waved her toy in the air.  “Marc she loves this thing!”

Tuesday

“Lucy?  Where did your toy go?” I asked.  Lucy didn’t answer.

“Marc, have you seen her toy?”

Wednesday

“Marc, have you seen Lucy’s toy?  I can’t find it anywhere.”

“Did you look behind the couch?”

“Yes, I looked everywhere.  I even used a flashlight.”

Thursday

“How could we have lost that toy?” I asked Marc.  “I looked everywhere!”

“It’s got to be here,” Marc said matter-of-factly.

“It’s not. I have looked everywhere. It disappeared.”

“How can that happen?”

“I don’t know.  Do you think Alex is playing games with us? Do you think he took it?” I asked.

Oh man… I get blamed for everything…

Friday

“Hey Lucy, look what I got you!” I exclaimed as I entered the house.  I opened my bag and took out three stick toys.  I turned to Marc and explained, “I got extras in case we lose them again.”

“Oh goodie,” he replied.

“Seriously, I don’t understand how the toy got lost. I really think Alex is responsible.  Marc rolled his eyes.

Saturday

“I looked all over the house again,” I announced to Marc.  I swear… that toy went missing!  How could that be?”  I then turned to Lucy.  “Did your brother steal your toy?”  Lucy purred in response.

“Hey Marc, could you imagine if we find it outside? I swear Alex playing games with us is the only explanation.”

Sunday

I came downstairs and sat in front of my computer.  Marc was standing by the deck door.  As I started to type, Marc called out to the cat, “Lucy, mommy thinks she is funny.”

“Huh?” I asked, barely paying attention.

He repeated.  “You think you are funny?”

Now he got my attention.  “What are you talking about?”

“Come here and look.”  I walked over to where he was standing and looked outside.  There on the center of the deck was the missing toy.

“What??? How did it get there?  I didn’t do that?  I didn’t,” I stammered and stuttered.  “Do you think?  Is it possible? Could Alex have really taken it?”

And then Marc couldn’t suppress his laughter anymore…

    1. Tillie & Georgia – Oh, I know Alex was having a good time with us…. He was such a character! Lucy soooo owns this place already!

  1. Thanks so much Lucy for showing us more pictures of you. You do look so cute with your Daddy. Looks like you have him wrapped tightly around your paws. Well done. We are just so glad that you found that great home. Have a great week end.

    1. Marg – oh, I have him just where I want him…I am so happy I hit the kitty jackpot. I love it here! XOXO Lucy

  2. Oh, Lucy, you’re such a charmer! It does sound like Alex has figured out how to get Lucy lots of extra toys. Always the smart boy!!

Pee Ess – Those curvy tables in the background of the photos with the glass tops are wonderful! Our head peep loves them.

    1. Sometimes Cats – Thanks (about the tables) I love them too! Always the smart boy is right… He knew what he was doing – that’s my story and I am sticking to it!

  3. Its the ghost of kittys past! Seriously though, I love that I now have to “confirm” that I’m not a spammer on your comments! Its like Woody Allen in Take the Money and Run:

Bank Teller #1: Does this look like “gub” or “gun”?
Bank Teller #2: Gun. See? But what does “abt” mean?
Virgil: It’s “act”. A-C-T. Act natural. Please put fifty thousand dollars into this bag and act natural.
Bank Teller #1: Oh, I see. This is a holdup?

    1. Corey – sorry about the spammer – trying this instead of a captcha and it seems to work – no spam comments today! I got to watch that movie!

  4. Well I’m not sure about it being Alex but stranger things have happened! Skye has a ball that is with her all the time. We have to be very careful throwing it outside because we live on a hilltop and it could go through the cat fence and down the hillside. She A.L.W.A.Y.S knows where this ball is. We came home from Vegas a few weeks ago and it was missing. Then my daughter said the her husband threw it over the fence by accident. Then he said no, I was just teasing her. Well a another week went buy with no ball then suddenly this week she walked out of our daughter/SIL’s room with the ball. It was the craziest thing ever!

    1. Debby – that is crazy.. but I had a similar thing happen. I once was going through an issue and I “asked my dad for a sign”. That night I came home from work and my mom was freaking. The dimmer switch went missing and she was afraid the dog ate it. weeks passed and the dog was fine and no sign of the dimmer switch. All of a sudden we came home and found the dimmer switch in the center of our driveway…

    1. Gattina – she already has… She has been home for about a month now and so owns this place… and makes toys out of everything!

  5. We really don’t think you’ll have to worry much about helping Lucy explore the house. Between her own wanderings and Alex’s help, she should figure out the place in no time. Then you’ll more likely need a stout door to keep her out of trouble.

    1. Lee County – You are so right… I just hope that Alex keeps her out of danger because this little girl has NO fear!

  6. Angel Girl says: thank you for the pics – I love your kitty, she’s really cute!

ZooZoo says: good night kitty Lucy in your pink bed. *kisses screen* LOL

And they really love her toys too.

    1. Leslie – her toys rock. I play with them all the time – sometimes I think I like them more than her! Lucy sends kisses back!

  7. Lucy is too cute. But those toys do have a habit of disappearing to place unknown. If they aren’t under the couch, there is a low chance of ever finding them. 🙂

    1. Meowmeowmans – Yep, he is a joker alright… Mr. Funny guy! But I do agree also… Alex brought us Lucy 🙂

    1. Darcie – thanks! she is one cutie pie and she knows it. as for toys, she has more toys that a pet store (can you say spoiled?)

  8. Lucy is such a sweet kitty. I really miss my cat Jemima. She is ginger and white. I had to leave her with my parents when I moved into a new flat, because I now live in town and she is used to having freedom out of doors. I see her often but it’s not the same.

    1. Crazy Cat Lady – I can’t imagine how hard it is to have left Jemima… But you are lucky she is with your parents and you get to see her often.. but I know what you mean. It isn’t the same..
