Feeling Not So Beachie – Part 3

Feeling Not So Beachie – Part 3

Let’s just say it has been a hell of a few days…. I have so much to say, but no time to say it… here are a few bullet points:

  • ·         Thank you so much for all your well wishes – I really appreciate each and every one of you more than you know.
  • ·         We haven’t had power since Monday morning, and have no idea when it will return.  We have no internet and limited cell service.  Obviously we also have no heat – and it is November in NY.
  • ·         Marc and I haven’t been able to go to work in over a week – we just made it to his office and are going to try to catch up.
  • ·         The devastation to our town, neighboring towns is intense.  It is actually beyond words
  • ·         We evacuated to Marc’s brother’s house last Monday. They had MAJOR flooding and Marc lost his car there
  • ·         We returned to our home on Tuesday morning.  The ocean came through the den and filled the basement.  There was at least 4 feet of water down there.  The basement ceiling collapsed.
  • ·         Everything in the basement & den is destroyed – this includes everything from the kitchen that was stored there
  • ·         We have been working around the clock since Tuesday – helping neighbors, clean up our home and empty the debris. We have never been so mentally & physically exhausted.
  • ·         A nor’easter is expected tomorrow.  With no heat, high winds expected and no ability to run generators to prevent additional flooding, once again Marc and I are evacuating – this time to my cousins since Marc’s brother already has a home full of relatives that are in the same boat we are in
  • ·         Despite it all, Marc and I are very thankful that we and our family and friends are ok. No one was hurt or killed, so in the end we are lucky.

Love you all…

Any posts last week / this week that I scheduled in advance are running – I don’t have the energy to stop them.

  1. Hilary, Have been keeping up with you through Susi and praying you through this. I cannot begin to imagine. Grateful that you escaped unharmed but sad for all that you are having to go through now. Love you and will be continuing to keep you in our prayers. There just are not words that I can say to help make things better but I am here–holding you guys in my heart. Been so worried but happy to read this post today even though I know it was a major thing to post it. Hang in there—tons of folks are praying for you. Hugs.

  2. I had no idea you had been hit so hard. I am sorry to hear it and I hope things turn around soon. Being without electricity or heat in cold temps is no fun (I have done it). My prayers go out to all of you and in some way I will try and help.
    Love Noodles and family

  7. Hilary, I’m Beth Ann’s sister, in Ohio, and you’ve put a face to the prayers I’ve been praying. I can’t begin to imagine what you are going through. Just know that you are loved, and that many folks are praying for you and all who have been affected by Sandy. It seems so little, and I feel so helpless, imagining how overwhelmed you are. Sending hugs your way, and continued prayers.

  8. We are very happy you are both OK.
We are so sad there was so much damage.
We cannot imagine what you and your neighbours face either.
We send you hugs and purrs.

  11. You have so many people that are wishing and hoping best for you two. It is had to remember that loss of things is so small next to loss of loved ones.

My friend Dan used to say ” Ain’t nuthin but a thing” whenever some thing got smashed, trashed or taken. And it is true.

You must be bone tired, both of you. Mentally and physically. Stop and take care of yourselves too.

  12. Thank you for letting us all know how you are doing. We have been so worried, and think of you all the time. We are purring and praying for you and Marc, and send much love.

  16. Wow! I can’t imagine what everyone is going through. You and your husband are good people to help neighbors, I hope others are doing the same thing. Know that you are in people’s thoughts and prayers.
