Alex had to be put to sleep this morning….
Yesterday Marc and I brought him to the vet where he received a vitamin B12 shot, an infusion of fluids, and a syringe full of maple syrup to help his hypoglycemia. The vet told us that we would know soon if the treatment helped.
Last night Alex started having nose bleeds. Marc’s cousin the vet advised us how to try to stop them. We got them under control but they came back. Before we went to sleep, Alex cried. It was heart wrenching. It was the first time he showed pain.
We woke up this morning and Alex’s nose was still bleeding. Once again he cried out and we knew we had to help our boy rest and find peace. We didn’t want him to suffer, so we made that difficult call.
Fortunately our vet was able to come to our house so we didn’t have to further upset Alex. We had to wait for about three hours for the vet to arrive. During that time Alex didn’t show any further signs of pain. He let us kiss him, he let us pet him, and he even wiggled his stumpy.
Alex was the best cat any one could wish for. He was an amazing guy, who was a fighter and a trouper. He was very affectionate and funny. He was a great friend to Marc and me. We love him so much and we always will….
Alex, Marc and I appreciate the outpouring of love and support we received. You all made such a difficult time much better. I can never express my gratitude…..
I am going to take a blogging break… There will be no hopes this week as we mourn.
Alex – Mommy and Daddy love you…..
